What we expect of our volunteering change-makers and how to join in the IV action.

Activism needs action. If you want to contribute to a cause that you care about deeply, and apply your skills to it, volunteering with IVunited might be a good move for you. We want you to be able to start creating change fast and make a real impact thanks to your own professional and personal assets. What we do is provide you with the tools, frameworks and insight you need to get started.

Innovating and personalizing the mainstream approach to volunteering means everything to us. We welcome fresh ideas as well as interindustrial and international contributions, with the hopes of giving you the framework and freedom you need to make the best out of your own personal potential as a volunteer.

Remember also that at IVunited we recognize that the most valuable change often comes from underestimated, overlooked and uncredited sources. We collaborate with individuals above all else, meaning the individuals before the institutions or background they represent. We do this because we have been these individuals, able to silently contribute to the development of causes bigger than us, and we have seen the power of our creation pass on to institutions that were unable to make the best of our work. We have seen the ground-breaking projects of brilliant people go to waste because organizations have grabbed the reins that they were not ready for instead of allowing outsiders to collaborate as equals. We don’t want to perpetuate the same mistakes. We want to approach volunteering differently.

What this means is thatyour contribution will be credited to you personally. We will provide you with references testifying of your donated expertise and we will keep track of your investment with our shared cause. When a project you contributed to arrives to a stage of stable growth, you will be the first invited to apply for an official position among hired leaders and decision-makers able to take it to the next level.

What is an Independent Volunteer?

We named our organization IVunited to honor people taking into their own hands the actions needed to put an end to our world’s horrors. Behind the abbreviation IVunited is the name Independent Volunteers United, and here is what it means to our organization.

“Independent” : We are individually driven by our altruistic beliefs, coming from all fields, taking actions into our own hands.
“Volunteers” : We act because it is the right thing to do. We stand for what we believe in and will always prioritize our planet and its people over
dogma.
“United” : We are independent volunteers of the world. Individuals, businesses and organizations, creating pieces of future together. We share a mission that is bigger than us, bigger than our backgrounds and cultures.

This mission allows us to unite, coordinate and map out dreams of universal welfare.
IV’s mission runs in your veins. It’s the calling that we all share. The one to protect our future, our world and the ones we love.

How to Volunteer with IVunited

Step 1

Decide whether IVunited is the organization for you. We get along well with very driven, capable and independently motivated individuals with a clear understanding of their skills and capabilities. We will provide you with tools and structure but we will not micromanage you. We will expect of you to not depend on us to push you. We will expect the best from you in terms of drive, compassionate behavior and helpful results. If you are an ambitious idealist with a desire for real action and ready for inspiring work in your free time to create a piece of future with us, we might just get along perfectly.

Step 2

Analyze your motivations and have clarity around your personal and professional skills. We take a personalized approach to volunteering, we don’t keep checklists of the things we expect of you aside from clarity, respect and decency. It matters to us that people are at the center of our development plans when it comes to our volunteers. For this reason, make sure that you yourself are clear on what it is that you are motivated for, what do you want to learn from us and what it is that you want to spend your volunteered time on.

Step 3

Reach out to IVunited through the form on our original article on our blog, or through one of our communication channels listed at the end of this article. Include your LinkedIn profile and any other resource that would allow us to understand who you are and the kind of skills you contribute. No need for formalities unless it makes you comfortable (we do appreciate simple, direct and friendly communication).
